Technology and Access

How do the decisions of organizations concerning the design and deployment of technology solutions influence individuals’ access to resources? I am interested in what the effects of technology are on access to resources, how these effects manifest, whose access is improved and whose worsened, and when technology works to improve access and when it doesn’t.

I examine these questions with a focus on two classes of technological artifacts: Digital Platforms and AI Systems.
